Vincent Price "A Graveyard of Ghost Tales" (Caedmon, TC1429, 1973)

A number of requests for the classic Vincent Price Caedmon recordings have convinced me to begin posting them in dribs & drabs (I’d been kinda casually waiting out of respect for a few other folks who strike me as the real obsessives here). Anyway, the breakdown of this excellent series (and this excellent volume in particular) is well covered by the great site TheSoundOfVincentPrice, and a smattering of the stories (as well as many other fantastic readings from Caedmon’s library) can be found scattered around on a few more modern CD collections; all of which I recommend for your late-night creepy-tale enjoyment.

And now on with the show…

Oh man, I can’t believe how much great stuff you’ve posted here–it was worth rising from the dead for.
I notice you used a track (“Graveyard Shift”) from The Ghouls “Dracula’s Deuce” album on your ‘Ghoul-a-rama’collection. I have a really worn-out, beat-up mono copy of the LP from my misspent youth and would love to get a download of the whole album in better condition and maybe even in stereo. Any chance you might post it someday?

Cool, thanks a lot! Glad you found some good stuff.

As far as the Ghouls LP goes, there’s a vinyl rip of it that’s been floating around (Tiki Tim had it, then Dr Terror, and my guess is that it will return to the web shortly), but since I actually think that Sundazed is planing on reissuing the CD soon (if they haven’t already) I hadn’t planned on posting it myself (for better or worse, I try & only post out of print/ vinyl rip files whenever I know that the “real deal” is out there somewhere). As an aside, the version I have of that album came from an import series based around the Hondells, and it might still be track-downable as well. Good luck!

I’ve been checking your blog here for a little while now – keep up the great work.

My favorite record ever came with a book called Frankenstein or something like that – I’d love to hear that again.

I know…not much info. It was a graphic novel really.

Slip, do you mean the Fisher Price Frankenstein set? I’ve been looking for that myself. Still have the comic.

My mother worked as a clerk in a West Los Angeles law firm in the 1960’s. Vincent Price was a client. My mother says that he would visit every female employee on her floor and sometimes would bring grifts such as flowers or candy. “When he talked with you, you would feel as if you were the only woman that existed on the whole planet…” was her response when I asked what he was like.

You answered my request! How cool is that?! I cant even begin to tell you how thankful I am for this! I’ve been searching for these albums now for 3 years, and so far you are the only one to step forward and HAND them to me, and ON A SILVER PLATTER to beat it all! You sir, are BEYOND awesome!

Another great post! And I am really enjoying this whole series! Vincent Price is a lot of fun and these make a nice change from the audio dramas and the other audio-books I listen to.
