Power Records "The Monster Series" (1974)
The complete 4 record set from Power Records encompassing the “Monster Series” based on their Marvel Comics counterparts. These were mostly simplified stories that came from the early 1970’s Marvel “Horror” line, and the Frankenstein, Dracula & Werewolf recordings were all re-released as 45s few times without the Marvel branding or comic book over the years (in fact I decided to included a Frankenstein rip from one of these records, so that’s why it doesn’t have the “turn the page” sound). As a kid I always preferred the full LP collections of all the stories that were parted out for 7″ book & record sets, but sadly these recordings never came out in one fully compiled set (though the great “A Story of Dracula, The Wolfman and Frankenstein” kinda came close I guess). Check these out and tell me it’s not a crying shame that they never made any Ghost Rider, Son of Satan, Simon Garth or Brother Voodoo records.

no & yes:
the first link is to the standalone “A Story of Dracula, The Wolfman and Frankenstein” LP, which I’ll be uploading eventually. This had no relation to the marvel stories & was a totally new thing (the first pressing w/ the book had cool Neal Adams art; a later (non-US if my memory serves me) version was just the audio).
The second image (Frankenstein 7″ sleeve) WAS from the later Power Records pressings of the same stories here, and there are versions like that w/ similar graphics for the Werewolf & Dracula ones as well.
Hope that helps clear it all up.

Some of the records you have posted (like this “Monster Series”) I haven’t seen or heard since my mom probably threw them away decades ago. I was in your shoes last year, and for about $50.00 (with shipping) I got a turntable, and a 75 watt amp off from ebay, and they both work great. Be sure to buy the insurance if you do this though. It can be well worth the $2.00.
I’m wondering if the werewolf book and record is the same story as the 45 entitled “The Werewolf”.

I’m trying to locate a FRANKESTEIN audio drama I heard in the 1970’s.
It had eerie string music, and the Monster spoke in a high-pitched voice like he had a strain vocal chords.
It’s not POWER RECORDS PRESENTS THE MONSTER OF FRANKENSTEIN, it’s not the 1932 13 chapter vintage radio drama, or the two from the 1940’s on the Radio Spirits CD. It’s not FAMOUS MONSTERS SPEAK.

It was a real spooky audio drama of FRANKENSTEIN. I heard it in grammar school. It was an audio tape. Might have come with a book for reading comprehension purposes.
I had all of these as a kid, I just went into shock seeing that artwork…UNREAL!!!!! bravo

Wow!! What a flashback! I remember the day I saw the werewolf comic set and begged my father to buy it for me. Damn, that was a long time ago! That would explain alot about how and why I draw and illustrate for horror magazines, today.
