HRB Music "Horror Sounds of Terror – Terror 61 Sounds of Horror" (HRB Music, HRB5000HS, 1979)

This 1979 cheapo collection of sound effects came bundled in the same sleeve as HRB’s “Goofy Gold” novelty song LP (pretty great in its own right), and seems to have been assembled from a combination of pretty common sound libraries, other people’s existing sound effects records(!) & a quick day spent in the studio just to pad things out to 61 cuts. Aside from the intro (used to good effect on the Satan’s Pilgrims “Play Ghoulash for You” single) my favorite two tracks are probably the under-a-minute-and-a-half condensed versions of the Dracula & Frankenstein stories from “Famous Monsters Speak”, but by saying this I certainly don’t mean to take away from the charm of good ol’ “Wolf Cry #2” or “Chimes with Echo”. As seen on TV 27 years ago, these 61 Horror Sounds of Terror are now a mere click away!

    Okay– being nerdy here….

This makes a good companion piece to “Sounds to make you shiver” — There are some obvious repeats on this collection, that are also on ‘…shiver’— same witch laugh, moster growls is the ‘dog’ sound…. The ‘woman screams with evil laugh’ is the exact same track as ‘Count Dracula and his victim’ on ‘…shiver’.

HOWEVER, there are also sounds on ‘…Shiver’ that were mixed into the 15 minute side-1 track, “night in a haunted house” along with wind & crashes– you can’t sample them becuase they aren’t isolated, but they are NOT included with the ‘spooky sounds’ on side 2. Some of them are here!

    Woman screams 01
    monster sounds with screaming

    and several others…

    Thanks!

Man, comments like these (by my fellow obsessed) just make me feel damn glad to be alive. It’s like the first time I realized it was that SAME CAR CRASH at the end of “Transfusion” as on “Dead Man’s Curve” & “Leader of the Pack”. A fine moment indeed.

This is awesome! I have been looking for goofy gold with horror sounds for years and could not find it in digital format anywhere. I listened to this for hours when I was a kid.

Now all I need to do is put the compilation of songs together.

Please let me know where I can get that.

    Thanks,
    Nixinator

    Thank you very much.
My mom bought me the set after watching a tv commercial around 1980.
