Frankie Stein And His Ghouls (Complete LP Discography)

February 11th, 2006 Leave a comment Go to comments

Here’s the complete run of albums by Frankie Stein and His Ghouls, a fictional studio creation designed to profit off the “Monster Kid” generation of the early 1960’s. The Frankie Stein formula was as simple as it was brilliant; cool low budget horror cover art, creepy sounding song names with a suggested dance listing after the title (“Hully Gully, Frug”), and spooky sound effects laid on top of the actual music (which was a potpourri of twist & beat numbers that sometimes had frightful compositional overtones & sometimes didn’t). Just fucking perfect.

Ripped from the cleanest LP copies I could find, I highly recommend the whole set. Ideal for dance parties!

    Thanks for putting these up!

Tiki Tim had put them up around halloween, just before he shut down his blog. But, for some reason, not all of the files were included when I opened the zips.

Now I have the complete albums.

Bent T: Heh, actually I gave Tiki Tim access to my rips last October & he used one or two at the time (I spread a number of my rips around last fall, so I’ll probably be posting some semi-familiar albums now & then). Glad you got all the files this time!

Dave: for the WAKY audio you should check out this completely great site. It’s where I’d grabbed em initially (I mostly just re-tagged my files so as to reflect my obsessive nature). It’s a real labor of love & there’s tons of cool audio on there. — very much worth a look & I think you’ll enjoy it.

Thanks a million again, Scar Stuff!

I bought copies of all the Frankie Stein stuff at another site years ago, but they suffered in spots from bad compression. I have an LP of the first one in halfway decent shape, but wanted ALL the Stein stuff– it’s GRRRRRRRRReat! (As Tony the tiger used to say.)

Some of the Frankie Stein recordings show up on other records without the ghoulish sound effects, including the Batman LP that featured “the sensational guitars of Dan and Dale”. (Actually Sun Ra, of course. You can find that record at “Beware of the Blog”.)

This is a GREAT site. I remember, way back in the early to mid 70s, a buddy of mine got several of these LPs as CUTOUT albums at our downtown KRESGES 5 and 10 cent store. Probably for a dollar apiece! Lucky devil! We used to sit in his basement and listen to them in the dark. Can’t wait to hear them again.

    Thanx for your efforts!

Hmm, try giving it another go. I just tested the zip & it was fine (and actually it’s had over 500 downloads so far with no other problems that I know of).

    Good luck!
